I am probably the most unreligious person you have ever met, I think people who are religious seem crazy!
Lately with all the shit I have been going through, I have been thinking more and more about ''finding god'' or whatever, as delusional as all those people seem, I realize that at least they are happy. So maybe I'll allow myself to be brainwashed by some crazy ass religion so I can smile again.

1) 6/10/09 - If you're ever going to "find god," you're going to first have to know that you'll never see any proof. But experiment with prayer and be more conscious of how you treat other people and you'll likely become a more happy person without feeling ignorant or dumb.
2) 6/10/09 - Way to discredit yourself. You're making yourself smile either way, it's just sad that you feel like you can't do it on your own.
3) 6/10/09 - You can't lie to yourself, read the "human target" ,there is no escape from yourself.
4) 6/10/09 - Shouldn't the trouble of "which god" bother you? How will you know which one's the right one? They can't all be. (Because none of them are)
5) 6/10/09 - You know as well as I do that God is a superstition and deluding yourself and forcing yourself to believe in one isn't going to make you any happier. Be proactive about your happiness; go to a therapist, evaluate your beliefs(cognitive, not religious), and examine your lifestyle. Like God, happiness is a psychological construct that can be reinforced by what we do and think. You have freed your mind already, don't enslave it with the delusions of religion.
6) 6/10/09 - I play with religions all the time and they make me really happy, not because i ever actually believe them, but because I think the superstitions are fun. And you'd be surprised, some of them become meaningful, even if you know they're bullshit
7) 6/11/09 - It's not even about following a specific religion. It's about accepting the fact that you'll never know what the universe is truly all about. All religions acknowledge that our existence is confusing and mysterious, and just because a bunch of intellectual atheists (the same types that brought about communism and other terrible atheist ideologies of history) make up a bunch of "logical" rules and conclusions that make it seem like there is no god, we will NEVER know how to disprove God's existence. If you live your life an atheist, you'll be a very unhappy and unfulfilled person from believing that you know everything there is to know about the universe. Look up at the sky, the cosmos are infinite and unknown, and to say that you know for sure that there is no creator is proof that you are a minuscule spec of matter not worthy of knowing what is universally true.
8) 6/11/09 - #7: you have no idea what you are talking about, in fact your argument is completely backwards. Religion often uses logic, sometimes not at all, to explain the universe, and they're the ones that can't handle ambiguity. Their holy books explain everything for them, and anything that goes against these explanations is denied, ignored, or persecuted. Atheists base their lack of belief on scientific evidence; not what a bunch of guys thousands of years ago wrote and called divine word. And don't even try to make atheists look more evil then religious individuals; Bin Laden and Hitler alone are enough to prove my point, and let's not forget all the tyrannical monarchy, pontiffs, and politicos that have done unspeakable things in the name of religion. And just because you can't disprove something doesn't mean it automatically exists. We can't disprove the existence of leprechauns, does that mean they are real? As an atheist I am ok with not knowing everything about the cosmos, but from what we do know I am confident that their is no God.
9) 6/11/09 - #7, I'm quite insulted by that. I am an atheist, and happen to live my life quite happy and fulfilled, thank you very much. I find looking up at the cosmos is proof of God's non-existence. Remembering how insignificant we are is healthy. It makes you appreciate more what you have.
10) 6/12/09 - Not true that every non-atheist uses any book as a form of absolute authority. Just because you don't participate in an organized religion doesn't mean you don't believe in a god. My problem with atheism is that you guys draw the conclusion that god doesn't exist without any evidence. Nobody knows if god exists, and being spiritual is saying "I believe there is a god" not "I KNOW there is a god." That's what faith is. Believing is different than saying you know for sure. But at the same time I don't care if you are an atheist. The only thing that pisses me off is how atheists preach to believers and try to bring them down for choosing to think "hopefully" instead of "definitely not" over the existence of god.
11) 6/13/09 - #10, there is a tragic misunderstanding between Atheism and yourself. Given that Atheism is a concept derived by reason, it is in no way a certification of God's non-existence; but rather, the unlikelihood of its existence. I doubt you'll find many atheists that claim that there is 100% probability that God does not exist. Given that most of us consider reason to be a golden tool, it's only fair to assume that atheists would not fall into the "faith" pitfall as the religious do. Atheism simply implies that one lives their life without the belief of a higher power; this is what scientific evidence thus far supports. There have been 0 scientific cases proving God's existence.
